AviationDayton™ is focused on aviation heritage, general aviation, aerospace industry and aviation-related government activities in the Dayton Region (Auglaize, Butler, Champaign, Clark, Clinton, Darke, Greene, Montgomery, Miami, Preble. Shelby, and Warren counties). Its mission is to improve the quality of life in the Dayton Region by informing people within the region and around the world about the resources available here for aviation-related business, education, recreation and tourism.


Dayton is the hometown of Wilbur and Orville Wright. Here is where they lived and invented the airplane. Here is also where air pioneers, engineers and scientists have continued their work.

Powered flight is a living heritage that thrives here today in the laboratories of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, universities, research institutes, and hundreds of advanced-technology companies.

What's the Dayton Region? AviationDayton™ defines it as 12 counties in southwestern Ohio – Auglaize, Butler, Champaign, Clark, Clinton, Darke, Greene, Montgomery, Miami, Preble. Shelby, and Warren.

These are the counties served by the Dayton Development Coalition, an economic development organization. It also includes the eight counties of the National Aviation Heritage Area.
