Moraine Airpark is a privately owned, public-use airfield
along the Great Miami River south of Dayton. It is known
for its concentration of vintage, classic and homebuilt
aircraft.
EAA
Chapter 48, one of the Experimental Aircraft Association's
oldest chapters, kicks off the local fly-in season every
year with its Funday Sunday fly-in on the first Sunday of
May.
A stretch of river east of the field is where the Wright
brothers experimented with seaplanes. The stretch of river
paralleling the runway was once an official seaplane base;
utility cables now span the river.
Two nonprofit organizations, Dayton History Inc. and Wright
Seaplane Base Inc., are working to build and display a
replica Wright Model "G" seaplane near the river.
