Historic WACO Field is a general-aviation airport with a 2,200-foot turf runway, a radio-control flying field and a museum dedicated to WACO aircraft and the golden age of aviation. It's owned and operated by the WACO Historical Society, the only partner of the National Aviation Heritage Alliance with its own flying field. It opened in 1997.
Facilities include an 1856 barn relocated to the site and restored. It is used to house tractors and maintenance vehicles. The field also has a 7,500 square foot hangar that houses the WACO Aircraft Museum, a research library, classroom/conference room and museum offices. A new hangar was built in 2009.
Vintage Aircraft Association Chapter 36 holds its meetings in the WACO Museum. The WACO Barnstormers RC Club operates radio-controlled aircraft on the field. RC aircraft are flown off a separate runway.
The field is host to the annual WACO Vintage Fly-in in September.
