Today, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base drives aerospace and defense business across the region with its technology development, acquisition and intelligence missions.

Hundreds of defense contractors support the missions on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Local universities do groundbreaking research, feed the region's high-tech talent pool, and increasingly partner in technology commercialization efforts.

Wright-Patterson Force Base is home to the Air Force Materiel Command and more than 60 tenant organizations. With more than 25,000 military, civilian and contractor personnel, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is Ohio's biggest single-site employer. It's also the hub of contracting activity that includes more than 600 aerospace and defense companies across the region.

Four key industries targeted for focused economic development efforts are aerospace research and development; information technology; advanced materials and manufacturing, and human sciences and health care.
