Miami
Valley Astronomical Sociey (MVAS) promotes education by
bringing astronomy to the public through regular star-gazes
at its dark sky site at John Bryan State Park, just north
of Yellow Springs. It also hosts many special star gazes at
the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery in Dayton, as well as at
schools, scout camps, and other locations in the region.
Its second function is to provide a forum where MVAS
members can gather, share ideas on astronomy subjects,
learn from more experienced members, assist new or less
experienced members, and simply enjoy the fellowship of a
group of individuals sharing a common interest.
The Miami Valley Astronomical Society operates and
maintains observatories at the Boonshoft Museum of
Discovery, 2600 Deweese Parkway, Dayton, OH (map) and in John Bryan State
Park at 3790 Ohio Route 370, Yellow Springs (map).
General meetings are open to visitors and are held on the second Friday of each month (except in June) at Boonshoft.
