Aviation Trail incorporated is a nonprofit organization that has identified and linked aviation heritage sites throughout the Dayton region. It seeks to promote aviation heritage tourism as a form of economic development. It pioneered the preservation of important aviation heritage sites witihin the region.
ATI incorporated in 1981 as a nonprofit organization to promote Dayton's aviation heritage. Its initiative to preserve and restore the Wright Cycle Company building — now an element of the Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park — launched a community effort to revitalize the Wright-Dunbar neighborhood.
ATI established the Aviation Trail by identifying and marking scores of historical aviation sites in and around Dayton, including sites in the Wright brothers' neighborhood and other locations where important advances in aviation took place.
The Aviation Trail Visitor Center includes a museum dedicated to another Dayton invention — the freefall parachute. The visitor center is co-located with the National Park’s Wright-Dunbar Interpretive Center in the Wright Cycle Company Complex at the corner of West Third and Williams streets.
